Xtra Curriculum develops the thought process rather than simply teaching a method of problem solving.
Courses at Xtra Curriculum are a two way communication where students can also put forward problems and examples.
Students’ interests are piqued by providing real life applications and showing how math can help them solve these.
Xtra Curriculum offers well structured courses which are in-line with the academic syllabus.
The International Mathematical Olympiad is the oldest of the International Science Olympiads and one of the most prestigious mathematical competitions in the world for high school students, held by a different host country each year.
All participating countries send teams of up to 6 students.
The competitions are designed for the 4-6 best high school students from each participating country selected through internal National Science Olympiads.
The selection process varies by country. In the United States, possible participants go through a series of standalone competitions that gradually increase in difficulty. In the US, the tests include the American Mathematics Competitions, the American Invitational Mathematics Examination, and the United States of America Mathematical Olympiad, each of which is a competition in its own right. For high scorers in the final competition for the team selection, there also is a summer camp.
Xtra Curriculum offers visual tools and emphasizes on students gaining a deep understanding rather than memorization.
Xtra Curriculum Math Olympiad Course is the complete package with study schedule for different topics, mock assessments and review sessions with the top tutors.
IMO syllabus ranges from complex algebra and calculus to branches of mathematics not conventionally covered at school. We go above and beyond to ensure that each and every topic is covered, providing additional worksheets for the additional sections.
Children are curious learners. They find it more interesting when they understand the “why” behind the concepts. And this is just what we do at Xtra Curriculum. We make learning fun!
Children in Grade K are already aware of numbers from 1 to 20. They are also comfortable with counting and writing numbers from 1 to 20. Building on this knowledge children in Grade 1 will learn about 3 digit numbers up to 120. They will also learn some new concepts like adding and subtracting numbers. Reading integral hours and transacting with money. These concepts build a foundation for understanding higher grade concepts. The focus in these grades should be on understanding numbers, place values, place names and number names.

Children in Grade 2 expand their knowledge of numbers, place values and place names. Children start to operate on 3-digit numbers. They also learn to read time and write time. Applied math concepts like measuring weight, capacity and length are also introduced in this grade. It is in this grade that children learn to interpret and organise data. Children in this grade should be encouraged to learn the concepts using objects, pictures and visual models

Children by Grade 2 are quite familiar with numbers and the way numbers work. It is in Grade 3 that kids get introduced to new concepts like fractions, lines and polygons. They also learn to read and understand time in 24-hour format. Concepts like fractions and lines and polygons form the basis of understanding higher grade concepts like operating with fractions, interpreting graphs. Understanding the concepts of area and perimeter, volume. At the end of Grade 3 children will be able to calculate mentally and understand concepts on paper with little help from physical objects.
